Sculpture of the form - Kurinuki is a Japanese ceramic technique dating back to the medieval Edo period. Starting with a lump of clay that has begun to dry, I sculpt the outer form with wooden tools, stamp out textures, and then gradually remove the clay from the inside. It's an intimate dialogue between the exterior and interior of a form. It allows for the creation of complex and unique pieces, crafted with my energy in the moment.
Working with stones - Stones are everywhere in Japan. In dry gardens, in front of teahouses, on tombs… They are the object of particular devotion. They are respected for their healing properties, admired for their shape and evocative power. They can also be the dwelling place of a spirit: the kami. Before leaving Tokyo, I began researching their symbolism, which I am naturally continuing in Brittany, where stones can be magical, healing, resonant, or megalithic.
Au Japon (2016-2019), l’âme « s’est incarnée » dans des formes symboliques et universelles comme celles d’un œuf . En arrivant en France en 2019 je décide d'éditer 2 formes en bronze (vanités 1 & 3). Disponibles sur commande.
